Dreamer’s Tea

It all begins with a dream…

I just love creating tea blends. I’ve dabbled in herbal eploration and studies for years. My herb teachers always said it is better to know a few herbs very intimately that to know a bunch mediocrely. To know a herb intimately means to wittness how and where it grows, to plant it, to spend time with it, tending to it and meditating with it. It means to taste it, to carry it with you in your pocked or a special pouch and to communicate with its spirit. It also means to harvest it to make medicines and tea or to use it in cooking. The herbs in this tea blend are ones I have spent a lot of time with in different ways. They are part of my herbal essentials and I’ve used them to make teas, eye pillows and body scrubs. Some people cannot start their day without coffee; for me it is tulsi who I rise and shine to! I literally feel my brain tingling with sparks of aliveness when I drink her. As a meditator, she is the best companion medicine for a peaceful mind.

This fragrant blend combines to create a delightful cup of tea that will simultaneously relax you and uplift your spirit! Tulsi is known as “holy basil” in India and is revered for its sattvic, (purifying) qualities. It is said to purify the body, mind and soul. Brahmi, (and it’s close relation gotu kola), is known in India for it’s cognitive enhancing properites. Lemon balm is a common North American herb that grows prolifically in the garden. It is simultaneously calming and uplifting, lending one to feel sweet joy. Mint is a sister to lemon balm and also grows with wild abandon. It offers a fresh taste, aids digestion and refreshes the mind. Lavender is an aromatic flowering shrub that has a soothing and calming affect. Rose is the flower of love. We know just how beautiful she is and when she opens in her delicate fullness, her sweet scent touches our heart. Rose does just that, she opens the door to our heart.

Dreamer’s Tea blend ingredients:

1 part tulsi

1 part brahmi or gotu kola

1 part lemon balm

1/2 part mint

1/4 part dried lavender

1/4 part organic dried rose petals

To make your brew:

You can purchase the dried bulk herbs online or in your local health food store. I’d recommend the organic variety when you can get it. You can also use your own dried herbs, if you have some.

You can measure by weight in grams, if you have a kitchen scale, or you can use a spoon. We are not looking for professional measurements here! You can combine them and place them in a mason jar so that your tea blend will last for a while…because you won’t want to go back to making tea with tea bags after this!

Place Dreamer’s Tea blend in a tea strainer, 1 tbsp on average per cup, and pour boiling water over top. You can use a mug or a tea pot to brew your tea. Let the tea steep for 5 minutes before removing the strainer to drink.

Grad your notebook, pen and take a seat to drink your tea in a comfy place. Sip and dream! Write and draw your inspirations in your notebook.
