Healing with Others

A circle of compassion

In December, I received the impulse to create a monthly healing circle, a gathering that would take place at my new home.  I was not sure exactly what it would look like.  I just knew I wanted to hold space for people to come and feel connected to others who share the intention for inner healing rooted in a holistic approach and expansion of consciousness.

During a tea visit with a friend, I learned about “The Power of 8” healing circles.  The founder, Lynne McTaggart, had conducted deep, scientifically backed investigations into the effects on healing using conscious, focussed, heart-centred intention.  Her results were incredible!  People reported huge positive impacts on their physical health.  You can learn more about it in her documentary here: https://youtu.be/imo-Pw3ypcs?si=RZD2kZrikz2nk-0-

Feeling excited and passionate, I decided to conduct my own experiment.  I sent an invitation out to a group of friends, most of whom I’d been meditating in community with for over 20 years.  On a chilly January afternoon, we gathered in my home to form a trial run healing circle.  Our focus was very targeted, my left eye.

As the result of a genetic eye condition and two surgeries last year, the back of my left eye was inflamed.  The pressure in the eye was high, at 17; and the tiny drainage tube that had been implanted was not flowing due to scar tissue blockage.

I briefly shared my story and created a very clear intention for healing: The eye pressure would be at 13 or lower; the swelling would be gone; and the drainage tube would be open and flowing.

We opened the space with the sacred sound “OM,” and did some long, deep breathing.  Next, we joined hands, as each person silently stated the healing intention, and dropped down into the heart, imagining a soft flower opening and soft petals floating from each person’s heart to mine.  The Schuman healing resonance was playing, as each person visualized me already in the state of complete wellness, as set in the intention. We maintained this focus for 10 minutes, and then closed with one “OM” and three shantis.

Before closing the circle, we shared our experiences.  I had been aware of so much light in and around my eye.  I also felt the presence of beings working on the eye, energetic surgery.  A few others in the group also reported the experience of beings, Arcturian, conducting healing on the eye.  People spoke of the powerful energy flow from one hand to the other in the circle.  And although the focus was on my eyes, there was an awareness and understanding that the work was touching something much more profound than the physical body; the work was activating soul-level healing.

The following week, I had some eye testing, and a few days afterwards, I received my results.  The eye pressure had gone from 17 to 11; the inflammation was almost gone; and the drainage tube was only partially blocked.  I was grinning from ear to ear!  My glaucoma specialist said, “I don’t know how it happened.  Your pressure went from 17 to 11!  I can’t explain it.”

So, I told him.  He was open, humbly stating that Western medicine was not the only way.  It was what he knew, yet there were many things he did not know, and new discoveries were always being made.  I was impressed by his openness.

We shall see what future testing reveals.  For now, I am delighted to welcome those of all experience levels to join me monthly.  You are a powerful self-healer, you do have the innate potential to heal yourself through the conscious direction of your prana and resonance.  When gathered together in a healing circle, the power magnifies through shared intention and group energy.  The flow of giving and receiving opens the door for all to receive healing energy, whether inside or outside the circle.

Lynne called her circles “Power of Eight” because she found 8 to be a “sweet spot” number for the most profound healing results.  Human to human contact, selfless service to the wellness of others, heart-felt intention and compassion all make the circle potent.  But the most powerful healer of all is “the power of love!”  Love joins, and thus mends all wounds, emotional, physical, mental and soul level.

There is a substance in Ayurveda called ojas, and it is essential for strong immunity and overall well-being.  Love builds ojas…

Key Aspects of Ojas and Love in Ayurveda:

  • What is Ojas? Ojas (meaning “vigor” or “vitality”) is the final, most refined byproduct of digestion.
  • It is described as a honey-like, golden-white substance that provides stability, physical strength, and mental clarity. It is associated with the Kapha dosha.
  • The Role of Love: Love is essential for maintaining high Ojas. It acts as a mental and emotional nutrient that prevents the depletion of this vital essence. A heart filled with love is a heart filled with Ojas, leading to feelings of compassion and calmness.
  • Building Ojas through Loving Actions:
    • Self-Care: Proper rest, meditation, and healthy, sattvic food (ghee, dates, almonds).
    • Connection: Giving and receiving love through service, spending time in nature, and nurturing relationships.
  • Depletion: Stress, negative emotions, excessive sexual activity, and poor diet can deplete Ojas, leading to fatigue, fear, and low immunity.

Types of Ojas:

  • Para Ojas: Located in the heart, it is the highest form, with only eight drops existing in the body, essential for life.
  • Apara Ojas: Circulates throughout the body and is responsible for overall physical health and immunity.

When Ojas is strong, one experiences a “glowing” state of being, both physically and emotionally.

I’ll leave you with this simple, delicious ojas-boosting warm drink.

Almond-Date Drink

A warm cup of glow…

  • Soak a handful of almonds and 2 medjool dates overnight. Peel almonds, and blend with warm milk, a pinch of cardamom, and a little honey.  Enjoy the nourishment!
